‡Income escalator option is available with most income types (excluding benefit certain). Under this option, what would otherwise be level benefit payments over the term become benefit payments that are lower during early years and greater during later years, thus approximating the same income over an entire term, but varying how and when it is received. This may result in lower total payments if the annuitant passes away in the early years of the contract.
Fixed annuities and fixed index annuities are long-term, tax-deferred vehicles designed for retirement. Earnings are taxable as ordinary income when distributed. Individuals may be subject to a 10% additional tax for withdrawals before age 59½ unless an exception to the tax is met. Add-on benefits are available for an additional charge in addition to the ongoing fees and expenses of the annuity and may be subject to conditions and limitations.
Single premium immediate annuities (SPIA) are retirement-focused insurance contracts that convert a one-time lump-sum premium payment to a guaranteed income stream, commencing within the first year of purchase. Earnings are taxable as ordinary income when distributed. Individuals may be subject to a 10% additional tax for withdrawals before age 59½ unless an exception to the tax is met.
