Tax Deferral

What is an Annuity? An annuity is a long-term, tax-deferred vehicle designed for retirement. Variable annuities involve investment risks and may lose value. Earnings are taxable as ordinary income when distributed and may be subject to a 10% additional tax if withdrawn before age 59½.

Evaluate Taxable, Tax-Deferred* and Tax-Free Investment Growth

Many investments are taxed differently. For example, some bonds may incur only a federal tax, some only a state tax, and some may be subject to both. Use this calculator to make side-by-side evaluations of potential investment returns.

*Tax deferral offers no additional value if an annuity is used to fund a qualified plan, such as a 401(k) or IRA, and may be found at a lower cost in other investment products. It also may not be available if the annuity is owned by a "non-natural person" such as a corporation or certain types of trusts.

Demonstrate the Power of Tax Deferral

Tax-deferred* investing strategies may significantly increase the value of your assets over time, and in some cases can limit your overall tax burden. This tool will analyze the accumulation and distribution values of a taxable and tax-deferred account, such as a tax-deferred annuity.

Calculate the Future Value of an Annuity

With a tax-deferred* vehicle (such as an annuity), you're able to keep more of your money at work for you which can lead to increased growth potential. Use this calculator to compare the taxable vs. tax-deferred growth of your initial deposit.
